A range of accommodation is available in Aix en Provence and this caters for most budgets and tastes. As well as traditional hotels, other popular accommodation options include self-catering gîtes, holiday apartments, guest houses, farmhouses and campsites.
During most of the year, finding accommodation and lodging within Aix en Provence doesn't usually pose a problem. However, it's worth bearing in mind that between the middle of June and the end of July, hotel rooms can be in short supply because of the Aix Festival. August can also be a busy time in this popular tourist destination. Visitors to Aix en Provence during this period are advised to book their accommodation well ahead.

There a number of mid-range hotels in Aix. Many of these are conveniently located within the centre of Aix en Provence itself and yet are still able to offer quiet surroundings for their guests. As well as providing comfortable and often charming accommodation, they are perfect for soaking up the local atmosphere and, in general, offer good value for money.
For those wishing to stay in luxury in Aix en Provence, the city offers several upmarket hotels and a reasonable choice of luxury accommodation. It's worth noting that a number of these are located on the outskirts of the city. Hotel guests can enjoy a range of modern hotel and leisure facilities, including swimming pools and tennis courts. Many also boast gardens and open-air terraces in which to sit back and relax in fine weather. The best-known of Aix en Provence's luxury hotels is the historic Grand Hôtel Nègre Coste on Cour Mirabeau, where the French king, Louis XIV is reputed to have once played tennis.
Budget travellers have a number of options to choose from. The majority of hotel chains can be within the suburbs of Aix en Provence. These offer reasonably priced accommodation and although lacking in character are useful if you're travelling around the area. As well as budget hotels and hostels, the city of Aix en Provence has its own youth hostel, which is located just a short bus journey from the city centre.
During July and August when Aix's 20,000 university students are on vacation, visitors can also stay in student rooms on campus. Aix en Provence also features two popular campsites with good facilities, both of which are situated a few kilometers outside the city.
